I want mini donuts at my funeral
nothing fancy, just a van
owned by a retired couple
who won’t skimp on the sugar
and for the kids, all-you-can-ride wristbands.
A merry-go-round with traditional calliope,
no additional cost for adult riders.
Courtesy of my estate—
funky little motorcycles that go up and down
pop-a-wheelie style,
and a Scrambler for the older ones.
Then while the priest
is busy with “ashes to ashes
through the valley . . .”
the kids can scream with glee
to be done with me.
And when the carnies are tired
and the little ones too,
give them each an Icee
so their lips can be
as blue as mine.
