Poetry is universal – it exists in every culture and country on this planet.
As April was National Poetry Month, we were thrilled to present the 4th Annual Global Poetry Celebration on April 25 at the Carondelet Center in Saint Paul.
This was not your typical poetry reading – at our Global Poetry Celebration, we gathered to hear poetry in many different languages read in some of the many gorgeous languages by members of our community. This year, they shared poems written in German, Arabic, Burmese, Punjabi, Spanish, Urdu, and more.
The theme was POETRY OF WITNESS and some of our readers selected (or wrote) poems that captured the struggle, hope, and resilience of those who have lived through war, exile, imprisonment, and oppression.
